Course Description
The General Construction Level Two (GC Level 2) programme forms part of HEART Trust/Nat’s plan to develop competent construction workers of world class standard. The GC Level 2 programme is designed to produce workers with a high degree of skill and the requisite technological orientation that will enable these individuals to operate effectively and, efficiently in the construction industry or other related industries.
Candidate(s) upon completion of the GC Level 2 programme will be awarded a level two certificate from The National Council on Technical Vocational Education and Training (NCTVET) which is the body which develops national standards and is the certifying body for HEART Trust/NTA. The course is divided in two broad segments known as core units and elective units. Candidates are deemed competent when they have successfully been assessed in all core unit, one level one elective, three level two elective, and one level three elective.
Candidate(s) deemed competent and certified generally find employment as independent /autonomous workers in the construction industry as masons, carpenters, steel fixers tile layers and machine operators. The course also serves as a base for additional matriculation for higher learning as is a prerequisite for level three programs. The course also seeks to high light and develops in candidates critical employability skills so as to thoroughly prepare learners for the world of work.
Special Notes
While punctuality and attendance are not established criteria for certification in the national frame work for general construction; learners will be required to be present and punctual for 85% of all sessions. Failure to adhere to this policy may result in the learners being barred from participating in assessment of the units that learner was absent from.
All learners are required to be in safety gears for prescribed sessions/Assessment, failure to adhere to this policy will result in learner being barred from session/ Assessment
Machines should always be operated with prior permission/ approval of the instructor /demonstrator responsible for workshop at no time
Playing, eating and any form other form of misconduct are considered in-appropriate behaviors and are not to be done in the workshop
All formative assessment must be completed prior final assessment as failure to complete formative assessment will result in learners being barred from conducting assessment
Electronic devices with the exception of silent calculators are prohibited from being used in class /workshop
The Instructor/Centre reserves the right to institute new policies from time to time to deal with specific situations as the need arises; consequently learners are required to adhere to these polices instituted
